Anxiety and OCD
You’re not enjoying this the way you’d hoped.
● When you get the chance to sleep, your body won't take it. “Sleeping when the baby sleeps” feels impossible even though you’re exhausted.
● You really want to do this right but you keep feeling like you’re falling short.
● You have thoughts that race, loop, or fixate, whether or not you'd call them "obsessive".
● You have a baby you love and still feel oddly detached from, because you're too tired and wound up to really enjoy parenthood
● Return to work is on the horizon and you can’t imagine how you’ll manage the transition when this feels hard enough
● Getting out the door takes forever because you have to check, and check again, and you're genuinely scared of what happens if you forget something
● A short fuse with your partner is impacting your relationship, but you can’t seem to do anything about it
We get it.
You're not enjoying this the way you thought you would. You feel so worried. You have so much to do. You knew it would be a lot but this is so much more than you expected. The stakes are incredibly high and the pressure to do everything right is overwhelming.
Maybe it's that you check the car seat buckle, check the diaper bag, then check them both again.
Maybe you're lying there exhausted, the baby finally asleep, and your brain won't stop running.
We want to be so clear: if parts of this feel too hard, too stressful, too scary, we can do something about that. You don't have to keep white-knuckling it.
That foreboding sense that there’s so much that could go wrong isn’t a required part of being a parent. That vigilance just means your nervous system is on overdrive and it needs some help calming down.
We can help.
