Sara Kenny, LICSW, PMH-C
Therapist, EMDR provider
Sara is a Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) specialist supporting individuals through pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
Before joining Seattle Reproductive Psychotherapy, Sara worked in the healthcare system where she developed expertise with a wide range of clients navigating the perinatal period. This training informs her ability to quickly understand client’s emotional experience in a broader medical context to offer care that is grounded, effective and trauma informed.
Clients often come to Sara when worry or repetitive thoughts are making them feel stuck. She is particularly skilled at helping clients step out of patterns that are no longer working for them to build a new relationship to their thoughts and themselves that is more manageable and aligned with their values and goals.
Sara works with:
Pregnancy and postpartum anxiety and depression
Intrusive thoughts and OCD
Birth trauma and medical trauma
Adjustment to parenthood and identity shifts
Sara utilizes evidence-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Exposure Response Prevention. Sara is also trained in EMDR and can support clients in processing birth trauma and other experiences that continue to feel unresolved. Sara is the one of the only Washington state providers on the Donor Conceived Competency registry.
Sara is steady, non-judgmental and client-focused and balances support with appropriate challenge to bring meaningful progress to the therapeutic alliance.
From Sara: “This stage of life can feel heavier or more uncertain than you expected. My role is to help you make sense of what’s happening and find a way through that feels more like you.”
